Along with analytics, the company will also provide its Revolution Series Digesters to help Carnival reach its goal of reducing food waste and carbon footprints.
Waste management solutions company BioHiTech announced they have entered a partnership with Carnival Corp. They will provide their waste management technology and analytics platform to the popular cruise line. Carnival said it may acquire up to several hundred of BioHiTech’s Revolution Series Digesters for their ships.
Carnival will use the Revolution Series Digesters and its cloud-based analytics to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint. The digesters will help safely dispose of food waste on-site, and the real-time analytics platform will provide full visualization and transparency for its supply chain.
“We are excited to partner with the team at Carnival to assist in their ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gasses and achieve important sustainability goals,” said Frank E. Celli, CEO of BioHiTech. “We are committed to helping businesses reduce their environmental impact through smarter technology and believe this partnership is part of a growing trend toward the adoption of our sustainable solutions by companies all over the world. We look forward to providing Carnival with the tools and support to move to the forefront of sustainability in the cruise industry.”
The BioHiTech Cloud measures and analyzes food waste to determine volume and type, generating insights that can be used to optimize supply orders to avoid unnecessary waste. The platform is secure, scalable and flexible. It gives ships the ability to store highly detailed waste management data they can use to comply with environmental, health, and corporate regulations.
The platform can be accessed on mobile devices via the BioHiTech Cirrus app. The app provides a dashboard so waste management data can be accessed anywhere at any time, and sends real-time alerts via email and SMS for preventive maintenance, equipment visibility, and performance monitoring.
